Frame / Texture / Dots
[live electronics]
Frame / Texture / Dots is a study about identity employing the diametrically opposed tools of cyclicity and transformation as devices for exploration. Frame / Texture / Dots measures itself against the concept of limit, intended as an observation point for alternative possibilities, some of which have been collected and employed as new limit-identities. A limit opaque but fragile that, when pierced or lacerated, lets feeble lights through, lights seen as ideas to be gathered and collected in a luminous clump that, in turn, turns up to be fragile and tenuous, easy to make it slowly crumble, in order to pick then up its dark spots in an ongoing fractal path made of permutations and confirmations of identities declared, hidden, unveiled or eclipsed. For the outlines of identities are completely evanescent. The device employed for said investigation is a small mobile frame that focuses on the space of a texture and crosses with materials of identity, the dots that stand out in the background, focusing on them to weigh them up (and so meta-morph them) or to deliberately avoid them. The set-up employed is of hybrid nature, it in fact displays a small and limiting analog modular system (intended as a “voice” of the main identity) embedded in a more versatile digital and virtual context (the landscape on which mutations occur). BIO Vincenzo Scorza is (also) a composer and a sound designer. He visualizes sounds and puts them in scene in a virtual theatre, sometimes even in a real one. Between the many crossroads searched for and faced, he stands now today at a crossroad to a third millennium updated minimalism. |
